File Batch Converter Python Script: "AVIF to JPEG" & "JPEG to AVIF" on macOS
Hi, There:) (こんにちは!)
I'm sakuralab.
Thank you for visiting my Gumroad product page.
I work with a lot of image files. When I need to convert a large number of images at one time, I get stuck with quantity limits on cloud services and it is really hard to complete this task manually on my PC.
So I created a simple script that runs by python3 on an Apple Mac PC. This really became a tool that saved me the most precious resource of all: time.
If you know even a little bit of Mac Terminal operation, getting this script to work is a piece of cake! If you are interested, please watch the How to use Terminal like programmer YouTube video listed on this page, which also shows how to create a virtual environment in Python 3 to make the Mac PC environment as uncluttered as possible.
"Python3 -m venv <VirtualEnvironmentName>"

- And for just a few dollars a purchase!
This product is intended for these people:
- Anyone who has to deal with a large number of JPEG or AVIF files
- People who are not sure whether to switch from the free version to the paid version of the Cloud's file converter.
- People who have Macbook or other Mac PC
- Someone who can learn a few simple Terminal operations by their own(it's really easy).
- Someone must have or be able to install Python 3.9 or higher on one's MacOS. And He(She) must be able to tolerate such slight modifications.
How it works after purchase:
- Please prepare a PC with MacOS 12.6 or later. It is highly possible that the software can be used on earlier PCs, but we have not verified its operation on PCs with less than MacOS 12.6. We will not be held responsible if it does not work properly.
- Open the Terminal application and install the specified tools before running it. Please install the tools for environment building and image processing (pip, Pillow, pillow-avif-plugin).
- Before you run the command "python3 main.py" where "main.py" locates, in the same directory hierarchy, there should be a directory named "inputdir" which has a file or files (*.avif or *.jpeg) in it that you want to convert.
- Then, Let's run "python3 main.py" command in the same directory (folder) where the Python script(main.py) is located.
